THEATER SYRUP®

Children and Families at the Theatre with a Pediatrician's Prescription

Sciroppo di Teatro® comes to Milan and surrounding areas — a project for children and families that promotes theatre as an “extraordinary elixir,” capable of positively impacting the wellbeing of children and families. It’s a “medicine” without side effects that makes you feel better starting from childhood.

From September 2025 to April 2026, children aged 3 to 11 and their families can choose from 28 performances part of the Sciroppo di Teatro® Milano e dintorni network.

The project, which began in Emilia-Romagna in 2021 from an idea by Silvano Antonelli and realized by Ater Fondazione, is promoted in the Milan area by Fondazione di Comunità Milano, Fondazione per l’Infanzia Ronald McDonald Italia, and Teatro del Buratto, in collaboration with the City of Milan, and under the patronage of Regione Lombardia and the Metropolitan City of Milan.

Sciroppo di Teatro® Milano e dintorni is a cultural welfare initiative based on an alliance between Theatre and Pediatricians — a synergy backed by the endorsement of three major organizations in the field of pediatric medicine: SIP – Italian Society of Pediatrics, SIMPEF – Union of Family Pediatricians, and ACP – Cultural Association of Pediatricians.

Sciroppo di Teatro® is a registered trademark project.

WHAT IT IS AND HOW IT WORKS

From September 2025 to April 2026, Sciroppo di Teatro® Milano e dintorni offers 28 performances designed for families and young audiences aged 3 to 11.
During any regular medical visit, participating pediatricians can “prescribe” an afternoon at the theatre for their young patients. They do so by handing out a booklet containing nine “prescriptions” — vouchers that can be redeemed at the theatre box office for the symbolic price of three euros.
The booklet, elegantly and delicately illustrated by Matteo Pagani, also describes the benefits of theatre just like the “leaflet” that accompanies any medication. Thanks to the "prescription" given by pediatricians, hundreds of children can go to the theatre with their families — with special attention given to those with fewer opportunities.
Families can choose one of the participating theatres and book their seats.

WHERE TO FIND THE BOOKLETS:

  • Ask your family pediatrician if they are participating in the project — they can give you the booklet with the vouchers!

  • At the QuBì networks in Milan

  • At the theaters participating in the project

PURPOSE

Sciroppo di Teatro® is designed to support the healthy and harmonious development of children during their formative years.
•    Scientific research has shown that enjoyable experiences — those that reduce stress, anxiety, and boredom — can strengthen the immune system and lower the risk of chronic diseases in adulthood.
•    The positive effects extend to physical and mental health, learning, and the development of social and emotional skills.
